About Us

The Canadian Trade Office of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers (previously the Council of Great Lakes Governors) provides SMEs from the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin with the tools needed to tap into the lucrative Canadian market. Our professional staff can assist companies to research, identify and capitalize on market opportunities in a broad range of industry sectors across Canada.

Canada, the United States’ largest trading partner, continues to be a lucrative market for U.S. exporters. From opportunities in traditional industry like oil, gas and mining to innovative industries such as information technology and biotechnology, our staff can provide the background and strategic entry advice your company needs to successfully navigate the Canadian market.

The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers is non-partisan partnership of the governors of the eight Great Lakes states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The group facilitates discussion and policy on water and environmental issues between the governors and the premiers of Ontario and Quebec.

The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers launched the Canadian office as a pilot of its unique trade arm in 1990, and has successfully replicated its unique shared office model in six other countries around the world.
